In June 2004 Reia and I flew a new Cirrus SR22-Generation II from Hanscom Air Force Base (Bedford, MA) to New Hampshire for a test flight. What a great piece of high-tech! Cruise speeds of up to 180 kts are not a problem. Fully de-iced IFR aircraft with SkyWatch® traffic info, WX-500 Stormscope®, NEXRAD data-uplink and Emax® engine and fuel monitoring system (all on MFD). The plane is a bit faster on the approach than the C172, but is still easy to handle, even with the unconventional side stick.
